La la la - Lissie

I have seen Lissie before at ACL and really enjoyed her raw earthy vibe. So when I found out I would be seeing her again, I was pretty excited! She performed at The Parish in New Orleans. This was the first time I attended a concert at The Parish and I have to say it is a spectacular venue because of its intimate setting. After walking up a set of wooden stairs and opening the heavy doors, Dylan Leblanc's voice hits me and as I instinctively look towards the music, I notice Dylan on stage singing. What really got me was the 40 people sitting down on the floor as if we were all sitting in someone's living room. It felt very organic. Great atmosphere. By the time Lissie got on stage, everyone -- about 100 people, I may be exaggerating -- were all standing. Lissie's performance Tuesday night was different from that at ACL. It may have been the venue but whatever it was M puts it perfectly, "I left the concert really feeling as if I really got to know her and you don't get that with many concerts."

M and I went with Dustin and Rian of 2bearnest. Check out their review here

E.A.T.

E.A.T. was the perfect place for my friends and I to grab a bite to eat before the Lissie concert at The Parish. Located in New Orlean's French Quarter, this cozy restaurant provided an ambiance of comfortable elegance with its clean decor and simply delicious food.

They have such a great menu it was hard to pick just one dish to try. Thankfully we had a table of five and each of us tried something different. We started with an incredible blue cheese and fig torte appetizer --- so incredible. I am not usually a fan of blue cheese, but the all of the flavors seem to really balance each other out into mellow creamy kicks in your mouth. That is just the beginning. Artichoke and Broccoli Soup, Butter Beans with Shrimp, and Fried Redfish also graced our table top. All amazing dishes. I wish I would have taken better photos of the food to show you guys. I guess you will just have to visit and experience it for yourself. Once you Pencil It In make sure to take a trip to your favorite wine shop because E.A.T is a BYOB restaurant. Another great thing about this place :) If you have ever been leave a comment and do share! I would love to hear about it!

Girl Talk - House of Blues New Orleans, LA

In the spirit of my caffeine kick (I had multiple cups of expresso today ...) I feel the need to share my Girl Talk experience. This was the first time I saw Girl Talk. I had heard a lot about him from M and I listened to the latest album, "All Day", before going to the show. As much fun as I had blasting the music in my car and shamelessly dancing and singing, it does not compare to listening/singing/dancingto him live (as is the case with all music - live is better). I mean, if I looked like a fool in my car, I definitely acted like a fool at the concert and it was all good :) The night called for it.

1) It's in New Orleans ... acting like a fool is almost guaranteed.
2) Main goal for many attending a Girl Talk show is to bum rush the stage. Which I did not get to do or would have done even if I had known this. It can get pretty ... intense.
3) The show started off with toilet paper falling from the sky! Really?!

Check out the videos below. You'll see what I mean.
